Interesting read highlighting how Workday's cloud-based solutions are playing a pivotal role in modernizing higher education institutions, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing the overall student experience during a time of significant disruption and change in the education sector.https://lnkd.in/efT9rrXTKey Highlights:1) Over 70% of Workday's higher education customers are now live on the platform. Recent additions include Guilford College and Ivy Tech Community College. In total, more than 400 higher education institutions use Workday's unified cloud-based system for financial, HR, and student data management.2) Workday's solutions are helping institutions simplify and automate workflows, eliminate paper and manual processes, and enhance experiences for students and faculty.3) Workday Student, an end-to-end student lifecycle information system, is being adopted by institutions like Rhode Island School of Design and Santa Clara University. It integrates with other Workday solutions to provide students with a unified experience for academic management, employment, finances, payroll, and more via a mobile application.4) Workday is addressing the challenge of aligning IT and finance functions in higher education, with only 9% of leaders reporting alignment in this regard. Sometimes after a go-live in Workday Student, you have to correct a student's academic record if something didn't convert properly. If you have to do this, here are the steps to "unlock" a student's academic record:1) Go to "Edit Program of Study for Student". Review their completion information and document it elsewhere (e.g. Excel). Confirm if there were any changes to the programs of study in the final completion row.2) Go back into the student's record. To change a course registration (e.g. units), you have to go to "Assign Student Grade" and remove the grade first. Then the course becomes available to edit.3) Make any other changes you need to make on the student's record. Compare that the credits and GPAs match with your legacy SIS before going back to "lock up" the students record. 4) Off the related actions, complete the student's record again. Refer to your notes on the conferral date.5) Go back into "Edit Program of Study for Student". Change the completion date to match what it was previously (as it doesn't pull in the conferral date you entered on the completion task). 6) Make sure to have someone remove any Attendance Plan Load Status Holds which are automatically put on when you go into the "Edit Program of Study for Student" task. These steps take about 5-10 minutes per student. All this to say, it's very important to have a thoughtful data conversion strategy. While the standard Workday recommendation is to convert all student data that have graduated in the last 3-5 years, you have to consider if that's right for your institution. If you're a Community College that might might sense as many students return. But if you're a professional school or 4 year institution where few students return, going with converting students as "Historical Academic Records" that are a text file might be a better option. It's a massive undertaking to convert student data, especially if there are a lot of exceptions or there were not strong data practices in your legacy SIS. #workdaystudent

At the Alliance for Adult Education Foundation we are pleased and supportive of the current bipartisan efforts in Washington to expand access to online skills trading programs. No time has it been so important to massively upskill America’s workforce. In our DisruptED 5G-Wired-Workforce-Augmented world of learning and work, new opportunities are happening at lightning speed. The World Economic Forum predicts that upwards of 50% of employees will require upskilling by 2025! That’s minutes from now. Companies like IBM are getting in front of this. Justina Nixon-Saintil shares programs like IBM Skills Build which provide critical training to those in underrepresented communities. As Chief Impact Officer for IBM, talk about impact! If ever there was a time for bipartisanship, it’s now! Let’s continue to build a coalition that delivers on the promise of good jobs with the necessary skills.MarketScale Tim Maitland Jane Oates Byron Auguste Brandon Busteed Heather E.
