I’ve never been high risk until now because of the complete placenta previa but I was told by someone that usually high risk they send you to a different clinic and you get seen every two weeks I finally saw my new OB back at my old office because the one I was in don’t care about you at all anyways I asked her if I’m really considered as a high risk pregnancy and she said yes and then I asked if it’s true I have to go somewhere else every two weeks and she said no next appointment will be in a month for my anatomy so if you were high risk were you getting seen like a normal pregnancy or every two weeks?

When I was high risk my last pregnancy I was seen weekly for biophysical ultrasounds and a nst. But I wasn’t considered high risk until about 30 weeks

With my third I was high risk due to placenta previa but I was just put on pelvic rest until we confirmed that the placenta moved, so just had one more ultrasound at 32 weeks.

Yes, with my son i was high risk being seen every 4 weeks by the high risk and every 4 weeks by the regular OB but the way they did scheduling I saw a doctor every 2 weeks, until I was 20 weeks then I started seeing the high risk doctor every 2 weeks, then at 30 weeks I started seeing the high risk doctor twice a week! The high risk doctor does an ultrasound every time at every visit as well.
It will be the same for this pregnancy. I feel like I’m always at the doctor, but I’m always seeing my baby so there a plus.

Maybe it depends on what you’re high risk for. The way I see it the less they have to see you the better they feel as doctors about the health of your pregnancy. Take it as a blessing.

It might vary by why you are categorized as high risk. I had severe early preeclampsia and reversed placental blood flow in my first pregnancy that resulted in stillbirth, so in this pregnancy after 19 weeks I will have an anatomy scan every 4 weeks reviewed by my MFM. I did go in to my OB every 2 weeks from 6-11 weeks, until there was clear evidence that the pregnancy was progressing.

Probably depends on the reason? I’m high risk for the first time and they had me do a 12 week ultrasound with maternal fetal medicine and they will also do my 20 week anatomy scan. After that I go back to them every 4 weeks for growth scans until birth. This is on top of my normal ob appointments. So between 12w and 20w there’s nothing extra but starting at 20w a lot more monitoring.

In my experience they don’t start worrying about placenta previa until it’s confirmed at the 20 week scan. Then they don’t really change anything unless you have bleeding episodes. I had complete placenta previa at 20 weeks and nothing changed. Then I was hospitalized at 28 weeks for significant bleeding and they started preparing me to have a super premie basically. They did steroid shots to help his lungs at that point. Then they decided to send me home and have me on bed rest and everything ended up fine. He was a scheduled c section at 38 weeks. No extra visits except one or two extra ultrasounds
